Chained Effects

'Isn't it enough to have a place to live and two meals a day?'

In Hong Kong, many dogs are chained in villages, farms, balconies, and outside various businesses. Chaining often results from fears of dogs biting or complaints about messes.

Chain dogs are  the owner's property. Improving their situation requires ongoing communication with owners to raise awareness of animal welfare and encourage better care practices.

Animals should be free from hunger, thirst, suffering, injury, illness, and fear, as well as the freedom to express their nature. If animals are kept in poor conditions, lacking clean water, suitable food, or proper care, it may constitute abuse, please call the police or SPCA to seek help.

We invited experts from different fields of animal welfare and rights to discuss the issue of chain dogs and deepen the conversation surrounding it.
